Winding up SMSF

There are certain obligations that need to be met once you have decided to wind up your SMSF. The obligations include:

  • dealing with the SMSF's assets
  • dealing with members' benefits – either rollover to another superannuation fund or pay benefits if condition of release has been met
  • notify the regulator, Australian Taxation Office, when the SMSF is wound-up
  • have final financial reports prepared, and SMSF audited by an independent auditor
  • lodge final Annual return (tax return) with the ATO, and Transfer balance account report if required.

Superannuation Accounting Services can assist you, and provide you with advice about the process and attend to the reporting and lodgement of necessary report and tax return on winding-up of the SMSF.

We will ascertain final members' benefits balance, and provide the Rollover Benefits Statement, to enable the rollover to those members nominated superannuation fund.

If you required further information on winding-up of your SMSF or intend to wind-up your SMSF, contact us to find out about the process.
